August Pix from Ron

Ron emailed these pictures to me when he arrived in August 2010. I got here about Oct 1, 2011. I personally haven't seen any reindeer alive, or the water without ice. Looking at these pictures, no snow or ice, and the water is as still like a mirror. Beautiful.
Since Christmas, the reindeer must be resting somewhere waiting to come out when it warms up again. Or in someone's freezer.
The pictures of the little cabins on the shore are referred to as igloos. In other words, their vacation residence. While the owners aren't there, bears have been known to claw their way into the igloo. Repairs are difficult to make. They have to go back to the villages, purchase the lumber and can take only so much up at a time by boat and it takes a long time to get enough material to do the final repairs.
